Dryer overheating
The dryer's surface or the clothes get hotter than usual, or the dryer stops suddenly mid-cycle. The thermal cut-off shuts the machine down when temperature rises too high.
Symptoms you may notice
- Dryer surface very hot
- A hot or faint burning smell
- Sudden stop, then works again after cooling
Possible causes
- Blocked air duct
- Faulty thermostat
- Lint build-up around the heater

When should you stop using it?
If you notice a burning smell or smoke, stop the dryer and unplug it immediately, and don't use it until it's inspected — built-up lint is flammable.
